Gunmen Kill Ogun Senator’s Aide

There was tension in the Isheri area of Lagos State as gunmen killed Adeniyi Sanni, a senior aide to the senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola.

According to the senator’s spokesperson, Kayode Odunaro in a statement he issued in Abuja, the incident occurred on Saturday while Sanni was on his way home.

According to the senator’s spokesperson, residents of Toyota bus stop in the Oshodi area of Lagos found the lifeless body of Sanni on Saturday morning.

Odunaro, in the statement, said the deceased had earlier called his wife to request the details of his vehicle papers when he was stopped at a checkpoint in the Berger area of the state by security operatives.

“The wife became troubled when she could no longer reach him on the phone after she sent all the documents to his phone’s WhatsApp.

“His apprehensive wife later called on Sanni’s associates to say she could no longer reach her husband on the phone necessitating the mobilisation of a search party.

“She was later called through the Next of Kin contact on her husband’s driving licence by passersby that the body of Sanni was dumped around Toyota Bus Stop in Oshodi with gunshot wounds.

“Senator Adeola who is involved in the ongoing ministerial nominees screening at the Senate is devastated by the sad news, as Sanni was his close aide for over two decades.

“The Nigeria Police Force is investigating the killing”, the statement stated.

Meanwhile, residents of the Igbobini and Ilu Agbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, over the weekend, appealed to the state government for assistance as flood wreaked havoc in their communities.

The devastating flood was said to have been the aftermath of three days of heavy rainfall in the area.

It was gathered that the flood caused significant damage in both communities, forcing affected residents to seek refuge at a primary school in Ilu Agbo.

According to one of the residents, “There are many residents of the two communities whose houses have been ravaged by the flood.

“Many of them are now taking refuge at the RCM Primary School Ilu Agbo. It is a serious matter.”

Following the development, the Chairman of Ese-Odo Local Government, Mrs. Sipasi Aluko, visited the affected communities to assess the extent of the damage.

She appealed to both the state and federal governments to urgently come to the aid of the affected residents.
