Lagos: Uber Driver Loses Car To Three Armed Passengers

A Uber driver, Emmanuel Christopher, has been robbed of his Toyota Corolla car around the under bridge in Adeniji, in the Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State.

NIGERIACRIME gathered that he lost his car to three armed men, who disguised as passengers.

They were said to have ordered the ride around Lekki Phase 1 and were on their way to Iyana Oworo when one of the passengers ordered the driver to stop the vehicle and alight, pointing a gun at him.

The robbery took place on March 2, 2023, around 10:15pm and the driver’s phone was taken from him.

Narrating his ordeal, Christopher said, “The incident happened on March 2, 2023. I picked four people from Lekki Phase 1 and the four of them were heading towards Iyana Oworo. The four of them boarded my car at the same time but when we moved forward a little bit, the guy in the front seat asked me to stop.

“He said he forgot his phone and was communicating with the two other persons in the back seat about his phone and they all concluded that we should continue the journey to Iyana Oworo. Only for us to get to under the bridge in Adeniji and one of the guys in the back seat started shouting Jesus Jesus Jesus.

“As he was trying to open the door, I tried my best to park the vehicle and immediately I parked, the guy sitting behind me pointed a gun to my head and the man in the front seat went for my key. The guy with the gun came down, opened the driver’s door and asked me to disembark.”

According to the driver, he said the fourth passenger, who screamed rushed down from the car and escaped, even as the three others stole his car.

“When I saw the passenger that escaped running towards me, I grabbed him and took him to the Adeniji Police Station where I wrote a statement about what happened. The robbers also went away with my phone and the N1, 000 that I had in the car,” he added.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, when contacted,  promised to revert but he had yet to do so as of the time this report was filed.
