Maikatako Community in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State was thrown into mourning on Tuesday night as nine members of one family were killed by gunmen.
This was disclosed by DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Police Command in the state on Wednesday in Jos, stating that the attackers wreaked havoc on the family.
According to Alabo, the gunmen stormed the community on Tuesday night and started shooting sporadically as residents scamper for safety.

The PPRO promised to give further details on the incident but added that men of the command had been deployed to the community to ensure calm.
“Our men are currently going after the assailants; we are on top of the situation, but the details of the attack are still sketchy,” he said.
However, Mr Mahanan Job, a resident of the community stated that so far, in the search and rescue conducted by community members, 18 dead bodies had been recovered.
According to Job, there is severe tension in the community, even with the presence of police officers and soldiers.
