Ogun: 26-year-old Man Defiles 11-year-old Girl

A 26-year-old man, identified as Monday Agbowade, has allegedly defiled an 11-year-old girl in Araromi Village via Idi-Oke, Ogun State.

NIGERIACRIME gathered that the man was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for the crime.

According to an eyewitness who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the suspect was believed to have unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor.

The source revealed that the suspect lured his victim to a nearby bush when she was heading out alone, in an attempt to defile the minor.

However, a passerby who saw what was ongoing raised the alarm to draw the attention of other villagers to the scene, as Agbowade was attempting to force the minor into submission.

While trying to flee the scene, the man who was said to have raised the alarm and other concerned villagers were said to have descended on the suspect and prevented him from escaping.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, said the suspect had been accused of committing the crime for nearly a month before he was arrested on Saturday.

“The family said the suspect had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor for about a month now. He has been apprehended. The case would soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta once the preliminary investigation is completed,” Odutola disclosed.

In another news, the Surveillance Team of Ekpan Divisional Police Station has recovered a large cache of arms in the Niger Cat Area of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The arms were recovered in an uncompleted building.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

According to the statement, the items recovered include “one (1) AR rifle, two (2) magazines, seventy-five (75) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition,one (1) locally made cut-to-size gun, four (4) rounds of live cartridges,one Awka-made beretta pistol and one round of 9mm ammunition”.

The statement added, “On Thursday, 19th December, 2023 at about 1600hrs, the DPO Ekpan Police Station CSP Aliyu Shaba gathered credible intelligence about the activities of some criminal elements operating within Ekpan, Warri, and environs.

“The divisional surveillance team, led by the DPO Ekpan, swiftly responded to this Intel and trailed the hoodlums to their hideout behind NIGER-CAT.

“However, upon sighting the Police, the hoodlums took to their heels, they were given a hot chase to no avail. An intensive search was conducted around the uncompleted building.

“Efforts are on top gear to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects.”
