Suspect Caught With Skull Gives Reason

A 26-year-old suspect, Franklin Akinyosuyi, who was caught with a human skull in Ondo State last week has given the reason he was in possession of the incriminating items.

According to the suspect, he used to rub the skull with “black soap” for his bath to boost his business.

The suspected internet fraudster lamented that his photography and boutique business was already dwindling so he had to indulge in rituals to boost it.

Akinyosuyi made this confession at the headquarters of the police command in the state when he was paraded.

He said the human head and the other fetish materials were given to him by a herbalist in Ikirun, Osun State after he paid N200,000.

Akinyosuyi, who confessed to the crime, was last week arrested following the discovery of the human skull in his apartment in the Elewuro area of Ondo town, Ondo West Local Government Area.

According to him, he was about to discard the items he used to boost his business for only one month when he was apprehended.

The suspect said, “I am a photographer, and I own a boutique as well. It was last year that my uncle took me to a herbalist. I explained to him that my business wasn’t moving well, so he asked me to pay him N200,000 to make a concoction for me, which I paid within three weeks.

“After he was done, he called me to come pick it up, and that was last November. He directed that I should be bathing with the human head every Thursday at exactly 1 am. I used it for a month but didn’t see any difference in my business. So, I had to call the herbalist and tell him to refund my money.”

Giving details of the case, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said an evangelist and a herbalist had been arrested in connection with the crime.

“Interrogation and investigation led to the arrest of one Oyegoke Dare, an evangelist who gave the skull and other fetish materials to the suspect; one Oyelade Sarafa, an herbalist who also confessed to having helped procure the skull from one Asekun (a vigilante) in Ikirun, was also arrested. Two other suspects mentioned in connection with the case are currently at large,” she said.
