Suspected bandit killed, as police recover walkie-talkie, military grenade in Katsina

Police operatives from the Katsina State Command have foiled a bandit attack on Sabuwa LGA, Katsina State, neutralizing one of the assailants.

Nigeriacrime.com also gathered that a walkie-talkie and a military grenade were also recovered from the scene of the foiled attack.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said the incident happened on April 17, 2024, at about 4:48 PM. According to him, the Sabuwa Police Divisional Headquarters received information that suspected bandits, numbering several and armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, were riding on motorcycles towards Sabuwa town with the intent to attack.

Upon receipt of the report, DPO Sabuwa, CSP Aliyu Mustapha, mobilized a joint team consisting of men of Operation Sharan Daji and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps. They responded to the scene and engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel.

ASP Aliyu disclosed that during the confrontation, Murtala Sabi’u of the KSCWC sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

In the course of searching the scene, the body of one neutralized suspected bandit, one walkie-talkie, and a military-grade hand grenade were recovered.

Consequently, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, Katsina State Police Commissioner, called on members of the public to promptly report anyone seen with a bullet wound, as some of the suspects may have escaped the scene with gunshot injuries.

He further reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the residents of the state.
