Two suspects, identified as Giwa Owolabi and Adeniyi Oyedeji, have been remanded for alleged theft using arms in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The duo were put behind bars, by a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba part of the state, for possessing charms.
It was learnt that the accused were brought before the Magistrate O.Y Adefope-led court by the Lagos State Police Command on three counts of armed robbery and unlawful possession of cartridges.
Narrating what happened, the police prosecutor, Magaji Haruna, stated that the two suspects on December 30, 2022, carried out a robbery attack using a white minibus, charms and 11 rounds of live cartridges at Lekki, an area considered to be for the rich in Lagos.
The reportedly committed the offence alongside a fleeing suspect identified simply as Inspector.

Haruna told the court the offences were punishable under Sections 411, 330(d) and 297(1) (2) (b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.
The charges read in part, “That you, Giwa Owolabi, Adeniyi Oyedeji and others still at large, on December 30, 2022, around 2am at Lekki Ajah, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery, unlawful possession of live cartridges and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.”
The court rejected the defendants’ pleas.
Haruna prayed the court to remand the defendants at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, pending the Directorate of Public Prosecutions’ legal advice.
Granting the request, the magistrate ordered the defendants to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Center pending DPP’s advice.
The case was adjourned till March 14, 2023.
